‘Pet Sematary’ Final Trailer: One Last Chance To Convince You To See One Of SXSW’s Best
  |  @   |

The first look at an all-new Pet Sematary dropped at SXSW last month, where it was met with rave reviews. Since then, Paramount has been pushing hard to make sure that you will see it by showing us some pretty terrifying trailers. Now, just before its release later this weekend, the studio has put out one final trailer, that should, hopefully, convince you to see what everyone has been talking about. Check out the newest trailer for Pet Sematary here below.

In the film, Jason Clarke plays a grieving father who uses an ancient burial ground to resurrect his dead daughter. While successful, he learns that sometimes, dead is better, as bringing the dead to life comes with a huge price.

The pacing in this trailer alone is unsettling. Not that that is bad, but there is a cold sense of dread that coursed through my veins when watching this trailer. Additionally, the music just amplifies the creep factor, and all of that just sets the tone that will probably haunt me when I see it. Or if I see it. Of course, if you want to go in fresh, it’s probably best you avoid the trailer entirely. But if you have seen some already, don’t expect anything new as this trailer uses most of the footage that we have seen already in trailers and TV spots.

But it is exciting to see that Paramount has an unbelievable amount of confidence in this film given that it will go up against Shazam. Pet Sematary will surely be a nice counter programming if you are tired of the superhero films.

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

Amy Seimetz, Jeté Laurence, and John Lithgow also star.

Pet Sematary opens in theaters on April 5, 2019.
