One of the fastest way a movie can win my attention is to opt for old school practical effects over the more convenient digital effects whenever possible. The more used, the better. The upcoming Hellboy reboot, which stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell, and Daniel Dae Kim, is one of those movies.

With director Neil Marshall behind the camera, practical effects were an important ingredient in crafting this new adaptation of the Mike Mignola comic book of the same name. And to show off some of these practical effects, Lionsgate has released a new featurette video which focuses on the special effects. You can find it below.

SYNOPSIS:

Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour, “Stranger Things”) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants.

There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich, Resident Evil series), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

Hellboy also features Ian McShane (John Wick), Daniel Dae Kim (“Hawaii Five-O” and “Lost”), and Sasha Lane (American Honey).
