Alden Ehrenreich To Star In ‘Brave New World’ TV Series
  |  @   |

Coming off his role as a young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Alden Ehrenreich is set to star in Brave New World. The project is a TV series adaptation of author Aldous Huxley‘s 1932 novel of the same name.

The show comes from Universal Content Productions and Amblin Television, and is written by Flesh and Bone, Fear the Walking Dead, and Homecoming writer and producer David Wiener along with Grant Morrison and Brian Taylor, who are behind the delightfully insane series Happy! based on Morrison’s comic of the same name.

Here’s more on Brave New World from Amazon:

The astonishing novel Brave New World, originally published in 1932, presents Aldous Huxley’s vision of the future – of a world utterly transformed. Through the most efficient scientific and psychological engineering, people are genetically designed to be passive and therefore consistently useful to the ruling class. This powerful work of speculative fiction sheds a blazing critical light on the present and is considered to be Huxley’s most enduring masterpiece.

And here’s a description of the TV series from Deadline:

As citizens of New London, Bernard Marx and Lenina Crowne have only ever known a rigid social order, a perfect pharmaceutical called Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex. Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, the two New Worlders embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion. Bernard and Lenina are rescued by John the Savage (Ehrenreich), who escapes with them back to New London.

The arrival of John, a subversive outsider, in the New World, threatens to disrupt the stability of New London’s utopian society.

Brave New World was developed at SYFY, where Morrison and Taylor’s Happy! currently resides, but was moved to USA Network when the show was given a straight-to-series order. Both SYFY and USA are owned by NBCUniversal.

According to Deadline there are rumors that the show could eventually end up becoming a flagship series for NBCUniversal’s own streaming service, which is launching sometime next year.
