Emily VanCamp and Daniel Brühl In Talks To Join Disney+ Series ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’
  |  @   |

Most of the Avengers roster has been lost because of death or retirement, but some of the heroes will live on and continue to avenge through a variety of shows that will appear exclusively on Disney’s upcoming Disney+ streaming service. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will bring back Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan to reprise their respective titular roles. Though it’s not clear what will happen to the pair post-Avengers: Endgame, it looks like the two will run into some familiar faces.

According to new reports, Emily VanCamp and Daniel Brühl are both in talks to reprise their respective roles on the upcoming show. Additionally, Kari Skogland (The Walking Dead) has been hired to direct the series. More on this below.

Deadline was the first to report on the latest additions to the show. VanCamp would reprise her role as Agent Sharon Carter, who is Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) grandniece. As Agent 13, she was assigned to protect Steve Rogers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and got a huge promotion during Captain America: Civil War. That was the last time we saw the character.

Brühl would reprise his role as Helmut Zemo, a special forces soldier who framed Bucky for the assassination of T’Challa’s father, setting the course for Civil War. Using the encrypted information that Bucky murdered Tony’s parents and the fact that Steve would protect his best friend no matter what, Zemo forced the two to fight amongst themselves and split the Avengers apart.

The site adds that we can expect to see the miniseries sometime in summer 2020.

Skogland, who will direct all six episodes of the titular miniseries, is credited with helming episodes for shows like Boardwalk Empire, Sons of Liberty, The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, The Handmaiden’s Tale, and The Punisher. All of these credits just prove that Skogland is the right person for the job.

Malcolm Spellman (Empire) will write the miniseries.

Deadline says that Sam accepting the Shield from Cap will factor into the series somehow. “But the studio had no comment on where it goes.”

Between this, WandaVision, and the new Hawkeye series, it will be interesting to see how the Avengers are living their lives after the events of Avengers: Endgame. But we will be sure to keep our eyes on the development of this show as when anything new comes up.
