‘Army Of The Dead’: Ella Purnell and More Join Dave Bautista On Cast Of Zack Snyder’s Zombie Heist Flick
  |  @   |

Back in January we found out that Watchmen, 300, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder was heading back to the zombie apocalypse with a movie titled Army of the Dead. Snyder is no stranger to the walking dead, having directed the Dawn of the Dead remake in 2004.

The first to join the cast of the movie—which will be a zombie heist thriller following a man who, after a zombie outbreak in Vegas, assembles a team to go into a dangerous quarantined area in hopes of scoring a big payday—was Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Endgame, and Spectre star Dave Bautista. And now four more have joined the cast with Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, and Huma Qureshi signing on to star.

Purnell has previously starred in Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Maleficent, Kick-Ass 2, and Never Let Me Go, and currently stars in the Starz series Sweetbitter. De La Reguera has starred in Nacho Libre and appeared in episodes of Narcos, Eastbound & Down, Power, and Goliath. Rossi is known for his roles in Sons of Anarchy and Luke Cage, and Qureshi has starred in Gangs of Wasseypur and Badlapur.

Here’s an official logline for Army of the Dead:

Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

Snyder came up with the story, and the screenplay was written by Joby Harold, Shay Hatten, and Snyder.

Snyder also produces along with with his wife Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller through their production company The Stone Quarry.

Army of the Dead is a Netflix production, but no release window for the movie has been announced yet. Principal photography is expected to begin this summer in July.
