Official Trailer For ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’ Movie Released
  |  @   |

Back in March we saw a teaser trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, an adaptation of the classic horror stories of the same name by writer Alvin Schwartz and artist Stephen Gammell. Now CBS Films has released an official trailer for the movie, which you can find below along with a synopsis.

The movie is directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) and produced by Guillermo del Toro, who’s best known for directing recent Academy Award winner The Shape of Water as well as Pan’s Labyrinth, The Devil’s Backbone, Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak, Blade II, and the first two Hellboy movies.

It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind”¦but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time””stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.

The screenplay was written by Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman, whose previous credits include Trollhunters (the Netflix animated series produced by del Toro, not the Trollhunter written and directed by Øvredal, which is fantastic and should be watched immediately if you’ve not yet seen it), The LEGO Movie, and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Patrick Melton, Marcus Dunstan, and del Toro came up with the story.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will be released in theaters later this summer on August 9th.
