SYFY Cancels ‘Happy!’ and ‘Deadly Class’
  |  @   |

Sigh. For me, Happy! was one of the best shows currently on TV. And now it’s dead. All thanks to old friend SYFY, who has a bit of a reputation for putting the axe to shows. This includes Deadly Class, which joins Happy! in the grave.

But all is not lost just yet. It’s being reported that both series are indeed being shopped around, so there is still some hope that someone out there beneath the pale moonlight will resurrect Happy! and Deadly Class.

Though devastating, the Happy! news isn’t all that shocking. I was pretty surprised when it was given a season two considering just how insane the show is. Because of that, it’s not something which appeals to a ton of people. Basically anyone who’s easily insulted was out. And these days, that’s pretty much everyone.

I haven’t had a chance to watch Deadly Class yet, but it was one that looked very much worth checking out at some point. But unlike Happy! however, Deadly Class never even got a season two. So you have to feel for its fans.

The savior everyone is looking to is the savior most people look to when their favorite shows get canceled too soon: Netflix. Part of the reason for this is the fact that Happy! is currently available to watch on Netflix worldwide. So if you haven’t had a chance to give it a peek yet, do yourself a favor and embrace the madness. Again, it’s not for everyone. But if you like a TV show that’s a little bit out of its mind and a lot over the top, this one is definitely your kinda party. And the more people who dive in now, the better the chances that it will live again someday.

One thing we learned with season two of Happy! is that each season has a holiday theme. The debut season had a Christmas theme, while the recent season two had an Easter theme. My one wish was for the show to live long enough to get us to that glorious Halloween season, and now that wish is in danger of being dumped in the grave alongside the two series. A damn shame it would be.

With the two cancellations, SYFY’s lineup now includes Krypton, The Magicians, Killjoys, Van Helsing, and Wynonna Earp.
