Marvel Studios’ What If…?, which was announced back in March, is a brand new upcoming TV series that will be streamed exclusively on Disney+. The series will expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe in all sorts of new ways by posing the question of “what if?” This really isn’t anything new considering that Marvel Comics has an entire comic line dedicated to hypothetical and alternative stories, like “what if Thanos had joined the Avengers?” or “what if Captain America joined hydra?”

And now we have an idea of who will be involved. While at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared some news about the show, which includes announcing that Jeffery Wright will be voicing The Watcher, and various actors and actresses who have appeared in Marvel films who will be reprising their respective roles. More on all of this below.

THR’s Borys Kit took to Twitter to share some of the exciting news about What If…?:

Now, this will be Marvel’s first foray into the animated world. So it will be interesting to see what kind of animation style will they be using; will it be traditionally hand-drawn animation or will it be computer generated? While the style that will be used is still unknown, Marvel shared a photo of the cast that will be involved.

As you can see, the series will bring back characters like Kilmonger (Michael B. Jordan), Thanos (Josh Brolin), Arnim Zola (Toby Jones), Korath the Conqueror (Djimon Hounsou), Taserface (Chris Sullivan), and Yondu (Michael Rooker). By bringing these characters back, it will reinvent the mythology of the MCU.

Other characters include Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Even The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) will be in it.

And it doesn’t stop there. Characters who have their own streaming shows will be a part of What If…?, like Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). And Thor stars Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will be a part of the fun.

Marvel’s What If…? arrives on Disney+ in summer 2021.
