Price Of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ Bundle Revealed

Disney is so much more than Marvel Studios, Pixar, and Star Wars. They are also the parent company of ESPN and own a majority of Hulu. So when the entertainment giant announced that they would be launching their own streaming service, many believed that they would also have a package that would include ESPN and Hulu. And that news was confirmed today by Bob Iger during an investor call where he also announced reboots of Home Alone and more.

He revealed that the bundle would also be launched at the same time as Disney+ and that it would be priced at $12.99. So how does that stack up against other competitors like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Now? Check it out below.

Disney+’s subscription plan currently stands at $6.99 a month or $70 a year. But if you decided to go with the bundle, it would cost you $12.99. It’s not that bad considering you have three sources of entertainment at your disposal. By itself, ESPN+ costs $5.00, with Hulu offering a variety of subscriptions with prices like $5.99 with ads, or $44.99 for Hulu plus live TV.

Taking a look at some competitors, an Amazon Prime membership is $12.99 per month. Netflix recently raised their subscription costs from $10.99 to $12.99 per month. HBO Now is currently priced at $14.99 per month, with an upgraded version of the streaming service called HBO Max expected to be priced at $16-17 a month.

Now, the bundle may be great for some, especially to those who love all three of the services Disney is bundling together. However, the flip side to all of that is, some may not want ESPN+, which also happens to be struggling. This is awfully reminiscent of how cable and satellite packing works, with those services offering channels and networks subscribers may not want. Additionally, ESPN may not have access to certain games that may air exclusively on Fox or Spectrum – a cable service that has exclusive access to a majority of LA Dodgers and LA Lakers regular-season games.

Analysts tell Deadline that the Disney+ launch will include 300 film titles and 7,500 episodes of Disney TV series. Eight of the films will be from the Star Wars franchise, 18 will be Pixar, 70 will be from Disney Animation and four will be Marvel. In the first year of operation, he added, the number of film titles will rise to 400, with eight more Marvel titles coming aboard.

Disney+ is expected to launch November 12, 2019.
