D23 Expo 2019: Disney+ Announces New Live-Action Series ‘Ms. Marvel,’ ‘Moonknight,’ ‘She-Hulk’
  |  @   |

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, more and new heroes will be added to the fray. And most would agree that the following would be welcomed additions to the MCU. At this year’s D23 Expo, Disney+, Disney’s upcoming exclusive streaming service, announced that the following 3 new original live-action series are being developed for the platform: Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. More on the report below.

See below for the Twitter posts from Marvel Studios:

Though there are still very few details as of the moment, these shows will draw inspiration from the comic book source material. Here’s some details Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige revealed on Friday at the Disney+ panel at this year’s D23 Expo.

Ms. Marvel will center on Kamela Kahn, a teenaged Muslim Pakistani-American from Jersey City, NJ, with shapeshifting abilities who assumes the mantle of Ms. Marvel after Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel. Of course, there will be some slight adjustments since Danvers never called herself Ms. Marvel. This stays true to Marvel’s promise to deliver a more diverse universe, one that is reflective of the world that we live in now. And Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige dropped a slight hint that this is an opportunity for the title to become its own film. But since it is still very early in development, we will just have to wait and see.

The next project to be announced was Moon Knight. The series will center on Marc Spector, who was left for dead in the Egyptian desert only to be resurrected by locals who worship the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. The deity offers Spector a second chance at life only if he agrees to that he can use his body as an avatar. When he awakens, he discovers that he is wrapped in the silver shroud that covers Khonshu’s statue. However, his new lease on life may have come with some nasty side effects. Is Marc actually a superhero with god-like powers or may he just be crazy?

Finally, there’s She-Hulk. A super-strong lawyer, Jessica Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin. When she requires an emergency blood transfusion, she gets it from Bruce, which would give her the same powers as the Hulk, but a touch milder. What’s interesting about this is that when the teaser was shown at D23, it showed lady justice, blind and holding scales. This could indicate that this could be Marvel Studios’ first legal drama. Yes, Daredevil had its legal moments, but that wasn’t really a Marvel Studios’ production.

All these shows are currently in the early stages of development, so it will be a while before we hear anything else from them. After all, they still have The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, and What If to work on, too. We will keep you posted as soon as more developments come in.
