Terminator: Dark Fate

Paramount has been slowly rolling out their next wave of marketing for Terminator: Dark Fate through a series of videos on social media that commemorate August 29, 1997, better known as Judgment Day to Terminator fans. All of that led up to the release of the new trailer, which you can watch here below.

In the latest installment in the Terminator franchise, we learn that Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton)’s actions to change the future were futile, and even though she changed it, she did not change humanity’s fate. Therefore, she’s forced to make an uneasy alliance with Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced human from the future, and the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to protect Daniella “Dani” Ramos (Natalia Reyes) from a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna), a prototype Terminator that possesses the ability to separate these two components into two separate, fully autonomous Terminator units.

Despite this being the sixth entry in the Terminator film franchise, Tim Miller‘s (Deadpool) take will ignore the third through fifth movies. It should be interesting to see if that will do any good for the franchise considering that the last three were either mediocre or just flat out disappointments. That being said, if the story is as exciting as the action, then we might be treated to something really special. Those set pieces look incredible, especially when Grace fights the Rev-9 in a factory. And it is not every day you get to see an outdated T-800 plaster a highly advanced killing machine in the face with a machine gun as the cargo plane that they are in crashes and burns, literally.

Plus the trailer has a few nods to those films when we get to hear Sarah say those iconic three words, “I’ll Be Back.” Seems like an appropriate thing. Not to mention how much more female empowerment in an action film, plus some additional LatinX representation coming from Luna, Reyes, and Diego Boneta.

Here’s the official synopsis for Terminator: Dark Fate:

Welcome to the day after Judgment Day. Producer James Cameron returns with director Tim Miller for Terminator: Dark Fate. In theatres 11.1.19.

Linda Hamilton (“Sarah Connor”) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (“T-800″) return in their iconic roles in Terminator: Dark Fate, directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by visionary filmmaker James Cameron and David Ellison. Following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator: Dark Fate also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.

Edward Furlong, Steven Cree, and Enrique Arce also star.

James Cameron, the director of the first two Terminator films, returns to produce.

Paramount will release Terminator: Dark Fate in theaters on November 1, 2019.
