‘Birds Of Prey’ Poster Features A Cast Of ‘Fantabulous’ Characters Circling Harley Quinn’s Head
  |  @   |

It wasn’t that long ago when the DC Films was paling in comparison to its rival, Marvel Studios. But it has shown a lot of improvement thanks in part to films like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam.

They hope to continue that trend with Cathy Yan‘s Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – yes, that’s the actual title of the film starring Margot Robbie. And now Warner Bros. has given us our very first look at the film’s newest poster, which will show how colorfully “fantaboulous” it will be. Check out the poster below.

The poster, which was released on the film’s official Twitter page as well as other social media platforms, sees all of the major characters that will make an appearance in the film including Harley (Robbie), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Gotham City detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), along with Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), and Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina) as tiny little versions of themselves orbiting, or at least floating around, the head of Harley Quinn, who is behind a large color gradient.

The use of color gradient in the background is really no different from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad poster. Although the marketing looked like a very gritty bubble gum pop movie with its use of highly skilled and super-powered convicts performing black ops missions, it did not live up to it. However, I am hoping for a very different result with Birds of Prey. And the teaser that is being shown in front of IT: Chapter 2 showings tells us this could be a lot of fun. We will just have to wait and see.

Here is the official plot synopsis:

Four years after the events of Suicide Squad, Batman has disappeared, leaving Gotham City unprotected from crime, and Harley Quinn has left the Joker. When Cassandra Cain, a young girl, comes across a diamond belonging to crime lord Black Mask, Harley joins forces with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to help protect her.

Written by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee), Birds of Prey opens in theaters on February 7, 2020.
