‘Jurassic World 3’ Adding ‘Jurassic Park’ Trio To Cast
  |  @   |

There is some newfound excitement for Jurassic World, especially after the Battle At Big Rock short made its debut last week. With the world now overrun by dinosaurs, it looks like Jurassic World 3 is going to need some big help.

Last night it was announced that Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, three of the original cast members of the Jurassic Park franchise, will be returning to reprise their respective roles as Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm. More on the report below.

Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin first broke the news via press release on their website. Additionally, Collider brought in Dern during one of their special screenings of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Battle At Big Rock:

Now, these won’t be just cameo appearances. The three will be back in what director Colin Trevorrow describes as “major roles.” They will also be joining Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, both of whom reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. While we don’t know too much about what will happen in Jurassic World 3, we know that it takes place during a time when dinosaurs are roaming Earth, again. That’s because they escaped from their enclosures in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and were seen at a campsite in Battle At Big Rock.

Jurassic World 3 will be the first time that Neill, Dern, and Goldblum have been back together since the original. Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm has returned the most out of the three having re-appeared in Jurassic Park: The Lost World. He was also referenced in Jurassic World, and appeared in character, once again, in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. That is followed up by Neill coming back in Jurassic Park III, with Dern, who had a very minor role.

Though the Jurassic World franchise has been anything but great, I am hoping that these new additions will help it it end on a very high note. Battle At Big Rock showed that Jurassic World really didn’t need the blockbuster effects, and with a concise story, it could be as entertaining as the original. Bringing Neill, Dern, and Goldblum back is just a fun thing.

So it will be interesting to see what the three original cast members have to offer after being away for so long. They are pretty much experts on the matter. And will their expertise clash with Owen and Claire’s experiences? We will just have to wait and see.

Jurassic World 3 opens in theaters on June 11, 2021.
