Shudder Arrivals: What’s Coming To AMC’s Horror Streaming Service In October 2019
  |  @   |

The Ghoul Log returns to Shudder this Halloween season.🎃

It’s finally October, the month where the rest of the “normal folk” catch up to the idea that horror movies are awesome! With that in mind, AMC’s horror streaming service Shudder has released its October schedule of genre movies and series. Shudder is a must-get for any horror fan, or anyone who wants to be a horror fan for a month. Aside from new releases, and Shudder Exclusive content, the streaming service has the largest and best collection of horror anywhere on the interwebs.

The big attraction for Shudder is the brand new Creepshow series, executive-produced by The Walking Dead frontman Greg Nicotero. Premiering last week on the 26th of September, the next five Thursdays will feature new double features in the anthology series. The show will have episodes directed by a who’s who in the horror genre like Nicotero himself, Tom Savini, David Bruckner (The Ritual), and more, and starring the likes of David Arquette, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Davison, and Dana Gould. (You can read my review of episode 1 here).

Premiering on October 10th is the full season of Channel Zero: The Dream Door. Created by Nick Antosca and directed by E.L. Katz, this was for my money the best season of the show. The season stars Maria Sten and Brandon Scott with guest appearances by Barbara Crampton and Steven Weber and has one of the most genuinely terrifying performances from contortionist Troy James as Pretzel Jack.

Also, the final episodes from Season 1 of NOS4A2, the AMC series based on the novel by Joe Hill, will be released on Shudder on 10/3 & 10/10.

The most exciting two words in horror may be “Shudder Exclusive” and Shudder has a few big ones coming this month. On 10/3, Australian horror film The Furies debuts (in the U.S. and Canada). The film will be having its Australian premiere at MonsterFest. Check that out here.

Gwen directed by William McGregor and starring Maxine Peake is about a young woman trying to overcome family tragedy and save them from the town around them. That debuts on 10/17 (in the U.S. and Canada).

Later this month as we near Halloween and haunted attractions become more popular, Haunt will premiere on 10/24 (in the U.S. and Canada). The film is directed by the co-writers of last year’s hit horror film A Quiet Place and is one of the best haunted attraction horror films to emerge from a new bustling sub-genre.

On 10/29, Nightmare Cinema premieres (in the U.S., Canada, and UK). The Shudder Exclusive is an anthology horror starring Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke with stories directed by some of the biggest names in the business including Mick Garris (The Stand miniseries), Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins), Alejandro Brugues (Juan of the Dead), Ryûhei Kitamura (The Midnight Meat Train), and David Slade (B”‹lack Mirror: Bandersnatch).

And best of all, for those sick of the “Yule Log,” Shudder is bringing back the GHOUL LOG, a 24/7 feed of a candlelit Jack-o’-Lantern to burn forever on your TV screens throughout the spooky season.

Shudder is also promising some sweet treats for us later in the month, including a TBA special coming 10/25.

Aside from all this, Shudder also has a slew of great horror films joining the service this month. As of yesterday, the fantastic found-footage film The Taking of Deborah Logan premiered and today debuts John Carpenter’s Body Bags. Very excited for the newest batch of foreign horror including Ever After from Germany on 10/7 and Wax Mask from Italy on 10/14. The latter was the final film started by Lucio Fulci and completed by Dario Argento’s longtime FX wizard Sergio Stivaletti.
