Official Trailer For Animated Holiday Movie ‘Klaus’ Released
  |  @   |

Netflix has released an official trailer for Klaus, an upcoming animated holiday season movie.

The movie stars J.K. Simmons, Jason Schwartzman, Rashida Jones, Joan Cusack, Will Sasso, and Norm Macdonald, and tells the origin story of Santa Claus. You can find more info on it and give the trailer a watch below.

From the press release Netflix released when they acquired the film:

Netflix has acquired exclusive global rights to the animated feature Klaus, the directorial debut for Sergio Pablos, who wrote the story and is the co-creator of Despicable Me. The voice cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Rashida Jones, J.K. Simmons and Joan Cusack. Netflix adds Klaus to its already broad selection of high-quality kids and family entertainment.

Currently in production in Madrid, Klaus is a Christmas family comedy that tells the story of a desperate postman who inadvertently brings about the genesis of Santa Claus. The screenplay is written by Pablos, Zach Lewis, and Jim Mahoney, based on an original story by Pablos. Tanguy Olivier, Gustavo Ferrada and Marisa Roman are serving as producers. The film is co-produced by SPA Studios, Pablos’ animation studio, and Atresmedia Cine, and executive produced by Jinko Gotoh (The Lego Movie Sequel, The Little Prince, The Illusionist, Finding Nemo).

“How is it possible there’s no story about the origin of Santa Claus? He’s one of the most well-known and loved characters in the world!” Pablos said. “We felt this was a story that needed to be told and that there was no better way than with animation.”

Klaus blends traditional and modern animation and includes many innovative techniques including complex, interactive lighting and the use of advanced texturing capabilities. Toon Boom Harmony will provide strategic technological support. The Netflix Original will be available globally for Holiday 2019.

While a Santa Claus origin story isn’t quite as unique as Pablos might have thought—we’ve seen tales of how jolly old Saint Nick got started in titles like 1985’s Santa Claus: The Movie featuring my personal favorite cinematic Santa, played by the late David Huddleston, and of course in the holiday season classic Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, for example—the animation style looks great and this certainly has potential to become a new holiday season favorite.

Klaus is set to arrive on Netflix on November 15th.

Trailer

This holiday season, discover the unlikely friendship that launched a legend. Watch Klaus on #Netflix November 15th, 2019. #KlausNetflix

When Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) distinguishes himself as the postal academy’s worst student, he is stationed on a frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where the feuding locals hardly exchange words let alone letters. Jesper is about to give up when he finds an ally in local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones), and discovers Klaus (Oscar® winner J.K. Simmons), a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys. These unlikely friendships return laughter to Smeerensburg, forging a new legacy of generous neighbors, magical lore and stockings hung by the chimney with care. An animated holiday comedy directed by Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos, KLAUS co-stars Joan Cusack, Will Sasso and Norm Macdonald.
