It’s become somewhat of a tradition for each new installment of the Star Wars saga films to have a trailer released during Monday Night Football. That is no different this year, as a new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, the final installment of the nine-film story arc, aired tonight during the game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.
Watch the trailer here below, and check out the new poster too.
It’s not as though we would have gotten anything major spoilerly. But there are some exciting setups for what will obviously be some really spectacular action sequences. Honestly, seeing pieces of the last Death Star in the teaser, and Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) have a lightsaber duel on it in the D23 trailer, this last bit proves that director J.J. Abrams still has a few epic things left to show.
Of course, if the trailer wasn’t enough for you, then you will be really happy to know that tickets are now on sale for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. And let’s not forget major theater chains like AMC are having their own marathons, showing all nine of the Star Wars saga films. But it looks like they are showing it in chronological order rather than when the films were initially released.
Here’s the official, but very vague, plot synopsis:
Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams join forces once again to take viewers on an epic journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the riveting conclusion of the seminal Skywalker saga, where new legends will be born and the final battle for freedom is yet to come.
The film stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams and Michelle Rejwan. Callum Greene, Tommy Gormley and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was written by J.J. Abrams & Chris Terrio.
Starring John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie, along with Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker arrives in theaters on December 20, 2019.
