‘Scoob!’ Trailer: Taking A Look Back At Scooby and Shaggy’s Origins Story
  |  @   |

Animation has always been a big part of the Scooby-Doo legacy. While there have been a couple of live-action takes, it will always be known for being a great cartoon series from Hanna-Barbera. And it is time for Scooby and the gang to come back to the big screen in a very big way. Scoob! is Warner Bros. Animation’s newest computer-animated feature that explores how Scooby and Shaggy became a mystery-solving duo who just can’t stop snacking.

Check out the newest trailer here below.

Will Forte will voice Shaggy. Many will recognize Forte for his SNL work, though he has also had some voiceover roles in shows like Gravity Falls and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. However, Scooby will be voiced by someone who isn’t as well-known, but still recognized for his voiceover work. Frank Welker, who is best known for voicing Megatron in the original animated Transformers series, will voice Scooby-Doo. Other supporting voice talents include Amanda Seyfried as Daphne; Zac Efron as Fred, and Gina Rodriguez as Velma.

They will be joined by Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee; Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman; Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, and Jason Isaacs as the villainous Dick Dastardly. And for some reason, Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon.

It’s nice to see that Scooby-Doo’s legacy can continue to live on through this new CGI-animated feature. Though it may feel like WB is using the title just as a quick cash grab, there is some charm there and it feels like it has some warmth to it. There is also a nice nod to A Pup Named Scooby-Doo in the trailer.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

The first full-length animated Scooby-Doo adventure for the big screen is the never-before-told stories of Scooby-Doo’s origins and the greatest mystery in the career of Mystery Inc.

“SCOOB!” reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

Directed by Tony Cervone, Scoob! is scheduled to open in theaters on May 15, 2020.
