We still have a little over a month before the first season of The Witcher arrives on Netflix, but apparently the streaming giant is excited about the project.
It was announced today that Netflix has already ordered a season two of the series, which is an adaptation of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski‘s book series of the same name we’ve previously seen adapted into the hit video game trilogy developed by CD Projekt RED.
One interesting thing about the trailers and images we’ve seen from Netflix’s The Witcher, is that the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), carries only one sword. Witchers are known for carrying two swords—one made of steel for human enemies, one made of silver for monsters—so the missing blade was somewhat of a concern.
But as you can see in the image above, which was released to announce the season two order, all is well and they didn’t forget about that other sword.
ABOUT:
Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Starring alongside Cavill in the series is Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, and Millie Brady. The showrunner is Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who also executive produces. Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström directed the season one episodes.
The debut season of The Witcher arrives on Netflix on December 20th, and now any fans it wins over have at least one more season to look forward to.
I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures… in Season Two.
I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us. â¤ï¸âš”ï¸ðŸº pic.twitter.com/evWoHvUl1e
