Syfy Greenlights ‘Dominion,’ A New TV Series Based On The Movie ‘Legion’

Paul Bettany As Archangel Michael In Legion

Sure Syfy Channel has a ton of reality television, but if those inexpensive shows help fluff the network’s budget for a few good scripted genre shows then they can hunt for ghosts wherever they like!

The network’s President, Dave Howe, announced yesterday that they have greenlit a new supernatural series to full season. The show is titled Dominion, and it is a sequel to the movie Legion, which starred Paul Bettany as archangel Michael, Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black, Adrianne Palicki, Tyrese Gibson, Charles S. Dutton, and Kevin Durand as archangel Gabriel.

Read more about the new show from the press release below.

X-Men Gold #1

The X-Men have been in print for 50 years! Marvel is celebrating that milestone with a limited series called X-Men Gold that will feature all-new stories from the creators that have made the Children of the Atom what they are today (for better or for worse).

X-Men Gold #1 is an all-new full-length story from writer Chris Claremont and artist Bob McLeod. Claremont has had a rocky return to the franchise over the last few years, but there’s no denying the impact he had on the X-Men and the Marvel Universe in general. There’s also an all-new story from Stan “the Man” Lee! Other stories set at various points in X-Men history are from creators Len Wein, Jorge Molina, Fabian Nicieza, Salvador Larroca, Roy Thomas, and Pat Olliffe.

Check out the preview of X-Men Gold #1 here below.

Marvel Previews is a monthly catalog from Marvel Comics that “previews” all of the publisher’s upcoming releases and offers synopses for current and upcoming storylines. In the magazine, you can get a look at upcoming artwork and covers too (that is, if you didn’t already see the art right here at GoD).

Now, Marvel has announced that the magazine is going to be available as part of their Marvel Digital Comics app on tablets and other mobile devices starting November 6, 2013. Fans will be able to get the digital magazine from Marvel.com also when they redeem a digital code from a printed comic book they have purchased.

Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the Weird

We have been teased for quite some time that Marvel Comics and Disney’s Imagineering group were working together on a new project. Finally, Disney and Marvel have decided to let the cat out of the bag. The partnership has spawned Disney Kingdoms a new comic book line based on Disney franchises and theme park attractions. This idea has both worked and flopped for Disney in the theatrical realm. It remains to be seen how it will do in the funny book format.

The first comic book hitting digital and traditional store shelves under the new banner is Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the Weird #1, which explains why we were getting the “Something Weird” artwork from Disney and Marvel back during Comic Con and D23 Expo.

See below for more details on the series as well as the first look at the cover of this first issue, which will be released in January 2014.
