‘Doctor Who’: Trailer For David Tennant’s Return As Tenth Doctor
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

Doctor Who David Tennant, Catherine Tate

Though David Tennant has long since departed his role as the Tenth Doctor on the long running series Doctor Who, it doesn’t mean he can’t still reunite with the character from time to time, just as he did for the 50th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor.”

Tennant is reprising his role as Doctor number ten for a trio of audio dramas that are set to be released in May of this year. Joining him for this will also be Catherine Tate as his companion Donna Noble.

A lengthy trailer for the three episodes has been released. You can check it out and read more about what they’ll be about below.

Deathspell Omega Logo

Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice, the third full length album by mysterious French black metal unit Deathspell Omega, is considered by many experts to be one of the best black metal albums of the twenty first century. The double record, which was released in 2004, takes its name from the inscription on the tomb of famed British architect Christopher Wren at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London (which he designed). It translates to “If you seek his monument, look around you.”

The album marked a radical departure for the band as they began to move away from straight black metal and into experimenting with more avant-garde and progressive elements. It is also the first entry in their trilogy dealing with the relationship between God, the devil, and man. The second and third records are Fas – Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum (2007) and Paracletus= (2010).

Todays Black Metal Friday track is one of the many standout moments from Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice. This is “Drink the Devil’s Blood.”

Abbath Premieres New Song “Ashes Of The Damned”

Abbath Header Image

Former Immortal frontman Abbath is set to return with his new band which is cleverly named Abbath. The group will release its debut album on January 22, 2016 via Season of Mist records. The disc is titled (what else?) Abbath (pre-order at Amazon). Apparently the man really likes his own name!

All of the advance tracks from the album point to it being the singer/guitarist’s strongest work since Immortal’s legendary Sons of Northern Darkness period from the early 2000s which is great news for fans of symphonic black metal. Abbath has just released another preview track titled “Ashes of the Damned” and it is a ripper! Check it out right here below and check back in a couple of weeks for my full review of the new album.

Massive Metal Monday: Magic Circle “Ghosts Of The Southern Front”

Magic Circle Journey Blind Header

Magic Circle may have been born in the wrong decade. The young Massachusetts band sound like they belong to the early ’80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their epic arrangements, clean soaring vocals, and driving riffage calls to mind a cross between Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, and Dio era Sabbath.

Continue below for a taste of the band in the form of the epic fifth track off their second full-length album Journey Blind, titled “Ghosts of the Southern Front.”
