‘The Jetsons’ Animated Film Coming From WB; Matt Lieberman To Write
  |  @   |

Warners Bros. will be making an animated Jetsons movie and has hired Matt Lieberman to write the script, according to Deadline, who added that the writer got the gig after his work on the animated Scooby-Doo movie for the studio.

The animated feature film will be based on the 1960s Hanna-Barbera series The Jetsons, for which WB now owns the archives (they acquired this in 1996 when they merged with Turner, which had held the rights since 1991). The cartoon TV series, which was the Space Age answer to the prehistoric Flintstones, centered on Orbit City residents, The Jetsons: George Jetson, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, and son Elroy, along with their dog Astro and robot maid Rosie.

Was The Plot Of ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Inspired By A 1957 Gumby Cartoon?
  |

Did you know that Christopher Nolan based his screenplay for Inception on a Scrooge McDuck comic? Were you aware that James Cameron got the idea for The Terminator by ripping off a few Harlan Ellison short stories? Cameron might have gotten away with the unacknowledged plagiarism if he hadn’t shot his mouth off about it an interview around the time of the film’s release.

Inspiration can be found in the most unexpected places. Take for instance the upcoming summer 2015 blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron. The titular villain is a robotic menace (played by James Spader) originally created by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to serve as a global peacekeeping program so that he and the other Avengers can breathe a little. When Ultron becomes self-aware and declares that the human race is the real enemy Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must come together to save the world from the horror that Stark has inadvertently wrought.

NYCC 2014: ‘Mike Tyson Mysteries’ Extended Clip At The WB Premiere Panel!
  |  @   |

Unbeknownst to WB fans at New York Comic-Con this weekend, at the premiere panel (the last panel on Thursday night), they got treated to an extended clip of the new Mike Tyson Mysteries premiering on Adult Swim on 10/27 at 10:30pm ET.

As with most Adult Swim programming, it plays with dark comedic ridiculousness. Mike Tyson, along with a potty-mouthed pigeon (Norm MacDonald), his adopted Korean daughter Yung Hee (who looks like a Korean Velma played by Rachel Ramras), and a British ghost (Jim Rash), solves any mystery thrown his way. This cartoon looks like loads of fun.
