There are weeks when I get excited about scores of books that are being released. And then there are other weeks. This is one of those other weeks, as we get a whole batch of very good comics; Secret Wars is still rolling, DC continues to roll out new books in their most recent relaunch, IDW, Dark Horse, Image and the others pump out a fine line of books. So, we’re just going with a shorter list this week, including a long running series ending in a spectacular fashion, a book from last week that I didn’t get a chance to talk about, and a book you probably never thought you would see. Yes, it’s that time of year again, time for the biggest comics convention in America, even if the show has moved beyond being just about comics. But it’s okay, all comic conventions have moved past comics to one degree or another. Sorry, got off track there. It’s San Diego week, which means there are a lot of new series and big hardcovers out this week to entice buyers at the show and even those of us not at the show. In fact, it’s better for those of us not going to SDCC, because we don’t have to wait in line and then figure out how to lug all this stuff back in our luggage. So rejoice at the ease with which you can buy your comics, for it is truly a good week to celebrate comics. And celebrate we shall on this week’s The GoD List!

I thought I was going to have an easy list to write this week, but as I started seeing what was coming out, I had to keep adding things and adding things and adding things. It turned a shorter list into a longer list, but that just means you, the fine reader, have plenty to look forward to when you go to the store today. It’s kind of a slower week for new comic book releases, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of titles to get excited about. There’s plenty of Secret Wars tie ins, new DC launches, the next issue of Fight Club 2, and the usual mix of great series from Image, Dark Horse, and others.
