Taika Waititi Joining James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’
  |  @   |

Actors jumping between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe isn’t anything out of the ordinary. In fact, it happens at the creative level as well, with James Gunn being one of the most recent directors to helm titles in both universes. Now, another filmmaker and actor has joined him, but just for a starring role.

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is said to be joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy director Gunn’s DC project The Suicide Squad, where he will appear alongside the likes of returning stars from the first movie such as Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis. Fellow newcomers to the cast include Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Flula Borg, and Steve Agee. More on the report below.

Kevin Smith Shares Story Of How He Reunited With Ben Affleck For ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’ After Not Speaking For Years
  |  @   |

There are a bunch of actors who have made multiple appearances in Kevin Smith‘s View Askewniverse over the past 25 years. Ben Affleck is one such actor, first appearing in Mallrats in 1995—one of his earlier film roles. He quickly re-teamed with Smith two years later for Chasing Amy, and has since appeared in four more Smith titles including Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

What fans might not know is that Smith and Affleck had a falling out a while ago, sometime after Affleck’s appearance in Clerks II back in 2006, and the two hadn’t spoken in years. But with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot now on the way, Smith was thankfully able to reunite with Affleck for the project. He shared the story of how this reunion came to be recently, and you can read it below.

  |  @   |

This is one of those moments in filmmaking where we have to accept the way things are and just move on. Characters being recast in reboots is one of those things that just happens. But when news broke that two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will be playing the title role in a new Blade movie, the reaction was mixed.

While some have praised the casting, others aren’t so fond of it and consider Wesley Snipes to be their Blade. Now Snipes has made a statement, and has called upon those Blade fans to “chillaaxx.” More on the report below.

SDCC 2019: Oscar-Winner Mahershala Ali To Play ‘Blade’ The Vampire Hunter In New Marvel Film
  |  @   |

It never ceases to amaze me what surprises Marvel Studios can bring to any geeky convention, especially one as large as the San Diego Comic-Con. While we can expect to hear about sequels and confirmations of certain titles, they have been known to catch everyone, and I mean everyone, off guard. Take, for instance, them announcing that Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali will play the title role in Blade.
