‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’: First Trailer For Kevin Smith’s ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ Sequel Is Here
  |  @   |

At the beginning of 2019 it was announced that a sequel to 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, which Kevin Smith had written a couple of years before that, had been given the greenlight and would begin filming in February. The sequel, which is titled Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, will once again star Jason Mewes and Smith as the title characters and will poke fun at Hollywood’s obsession with sequels, remakes, and reboots, while being all three itself.

A couple of days back Smith announced that the first trailer for the movie would be unveiled during his annual Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con this Saturday night. But things change quickly, and instead the trailer has been shared today. You can check it out below.

‘The Lion King’ Interview: Director Jon Favreau Talks Reimagining A Beloved Animated Classic With New Technologies
  |  @   |

Disney’s The Lion King (2019) isn’t quite the live-action adaptation of the animated classics we’ve come to know. Instead, it is a reimagined version that takes the lessons learned from The Jungle Book and uses new tools and technologies to tell a beloved story in an all-new way. Director Jon Favreau takes the helm of what is essentially an old story told from a different technological lens. Using photorealistic technologies, animals in the film come to life. So much so this new Lion King looks like a DisneyNature title.

We sat down with our fellow journalists at the global press conference for The Lion King, where Favreau talked about his three-year journey making the film, how he wanted to pay homage to the animated original, and more. Check out what he had to say below.

Casting for The Little Mermaid is already in full swing. Hailey Bailey will play the titular role, while others like Melissa McCarthy, Awkwafina, and Jacob Tremblay will play supporting roles.

But this really wouldn’t be a Little Mermaid reimagining without its Prince Eric. According to a new report, Dunkirk star and One Direction bandmate Harry Styles is in talks to play the role of the young prince who Ariel dreams of being with. More on the report below.

Movie Review: The Lion King (2019)
  |  @   |

The Lion King
Director: Jon Favreau
Writer: Jeff Nathanson
Cast: Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, James Earl Jones
Distributor: Walt Disney Studios
Rated PG | Minutes: 118
Release Date: July 19, 2019

When it comes to Disney animated films, The Lion King is considered to be one of the studio’s shining crown jewels. Released 25 years ago, the film raised the bar on animation and storytelling so high that it made it nearly impossible for any other animated feature from other studios to come close to its quality and standards. As such, there is no denying the film’s place within the Disney animation pantheon.

We then flash forward to 2019, when director Jon Favreau took the lessons that he learned from making the live-action The Jungle Book, and used tools and techniques to tell a beloved story in a new way that is visually bold and striking. Backed by a terrific voice cast including Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen, The Lion King roars with astounding pride. But as great as it is and how respectful it is to honor the original, this reimagining’s major issue is that it takes too little risk to separate itself from its animated counterpart. This new take matches the story almost beat for beat. However, the new cast gives it a refreshing spin, and the visuals help audiences see the film from a completely new perspective. My full review below.
