Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech ended up being the most-talked-about part of Sunday night’s broadcast of the 2017 Golden Globes, but there was something else noteworthy going on during the ceremony that you likely missed — Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield were kissing while Ryan Gosling was accepting his award.
Yes, that’s right, Marvel heroes Deadpool and Spider-Man were making out on live TV!!!
If you were watching the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, then you likely caught actress Meryl Streep‘s acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award, an honorary award given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to a performer for their “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” The 67-year-old, three-time Oscar-winning actress used her time on stage to address concerns about Donald J. Trump without actually naming the U.S. President-Elect.
Streep, who’s voiced was strained from “screaming and lamentation this weekend,” she said, referring to the memorial she attended for actresses Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, made her first allusion to Trump and his incoming regime after thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association: “You [HFPA] and all of us in this room really belong to the most vilified segments in American society right now. Think about it: Hollywood, foreigners and the press.”
The 2017 Golden Globes graced us with its glitter tonight, complete with host Jimmy Fallon who opened with an ode to La La Land. And the ode continued with the Ryan Gosling/Emma Stone musical nabbing 7 wins including Best Actor, Actress, Director, and Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.
During tonight’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony telecast, Disney premiered a new teaser TV spot for their live-action reimagining of Beauty and the Beast.
Watch the TV spot here below.
The upcoming film sees Harry Potter star Emma Watson as Belle, with Dan Stevens as the Beast.
Disney also recently released a video showcasing Watson performing “Something There,” the song Belle sings about getting to know the Beast and seeing something more in him than what meets the eye. You can also take a listen to that here below.
Jimmy Fallon opened the 2017 Golden Globes as wonderfully as I knew he would – with a song and a dance and many many guests. It was almost 5 minutes of smiles with a La-La Land “City of Stars” parody, complete with dancing on cars.
