  |  @   |

Sony Pictures is moving forward with 23 Jump Street, a sequel to 21 Jump Street and the recent 22 Jump Street, both of which starred Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

Sony has locked up Rodney Rothman to pen the trilogy-maker, which is expected to see Hill and Tatum return. Rothman worked on the 22 Jump Street script, and was recently reported to be involved in a planned Greatest American Hero reboot.

“Hey! Stop fuckin’ with Korean Jesus. He ain’t got time for yo problems! He’s busy… with Korean shit!” – Ice Cube, 21 Jump Street

Back in 2008, when Columbia Pictures announced they were developing a film adaptation of 21 Jump Street, I was wracked with cynicism. “Really?” I asked incredulously. “Because Starsky & Hutch and Bewitched did so well?” My cynical nerd-brain jumped immediately to the place it so often does these days, “Just what we need, another reboot that no one asked for!”

I was pleasantly surprised, however, to discover that this revamp wasn’t a gritty, self-serious take like Michael Mann’s Miami Vice, but rather an uproarious action-comedy by the directing duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. And I certainly wasn’t expecting 21 Jump Street to be such a smart, self-reflexive satire of ’80s buddy cop flicks and teen movie tropes.

’22 Jump Street’: Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill Are “Favorite Partners” (Video)
  |  @   |

So, I’m guessing audiences love Channing Tatum so much that they’re willing to see him in a sequel to 2012’s 21 Jump Street, which took the 1980s Johnny Depp television drama and turned it into a buddy cop action-comedy. 22 Jump Street sees Tatum’s return as Officer Jenko along with Jonah Hill as his partner Officer Schmidt, who are both recruited to go undercover once more, this time as college students.

We’ve already seen the film’s red-band trailer, which not only shows us the boys back in action, but also gives Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman a spotlight.

Now, Sony has just released the first TV spot for the film. Watch “22 Jump Street – Favorite Partners” here below, along with a few more clips from the movie and another red-band trailer.

’22 Jump Street’ Red Band Trailer Arrives; Offers Just As Much Fun As The Original
  |

When the 21 Jump Street reboot / relaunch / remake I don’t think anyone expected to enjoy it as much as they did, but thanks to some incredibly witty writing (including some very meta commentary on remaking movies) and some great performances the movie found a very receptive audience.

Now, the upcoming sequel 22 Jump Street has a new trailer out which promises more of the same laughs as Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill reprise their undercover cop roles, this time in college, and more commentary on movie sequels in general and even the first film courtesy of Nick Offerman’s opening lines.

Check out the NSFW red band trailer for 22 Jump Street below, which opens in theaters June 13th, 2014.
