‘Halo 5: Guardians’ To Take Up 55GB Of Hard Drive Space
  |  @   |

The next game in the Halo franchise, titled Halo 5: Guardians, is set to be released next week on October 27th. If you’re one of the many fans of the series eagerly awaiting its arrival, you may just want to clear up a little bit of hard drive space if you’re planning to grab a digital copy. It’s being reported that, in total, Guardians will be a massive 55GB in size.

This is a bit of a shock, because these games aren’t generally known for being huge—most include a short single-player campaign and however many multiplayer maps for online play. For comparison, Halo 3 was 5.7GB; Halo: Reach was 6.6GB; Halo 3: ODST was 6.7GB; Halo 4 was 7.2GB; Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was 7.5GB. The day one update for Guardians will be 9GB all by itself, bringing the total size to 55GB. The only thing close to that is Halo: The Master Chief Collection, featuring the re-mastered versions of the first two games along with Halo 3, Halo 4, the digital series Halo: Nightfall, and access to the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, which weighs in at almost 63GB. For comparison with another recent game, the MMO The Elder Scrolls Online was reported to be 65GB and actually ended up being about 58GB, at least on Xbox.
