Directed by Toby Haynes, the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Special picks up where Series 5 left off, and also features Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins.
Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol will air on both the BBC in the UK and BBC America in the USA on December 25.
In this tale, inspired by the Charles Dickens holiday classic, Matt Smith returns as the 11th Doctor with Karen Gillan as his companion along with special guest stars Michael Gambon (Harry Potter) and opera diva Katherine Jenkins.
The DVD and Blu-ray will include bonus features such as the behind-the-scenes feature Doctor Who Confidential and the live concert, Doctor Who at the Proms 2010, featuring stars Smith, Gillan and Arthur Darvill as hosts.

If you’re a Doctor Who fan and the Christmas Special as well as the Doctor Who Proms being aired on BBC America just aren’t enough Time Lord insanity for you, then you’re in luck: the BBC has announced that the fourth and final Doctor Who Adventure Game is to be released online just after A Christmas Carol is screened on UK television.
The best part? The “monsters” in this game are the Vashta Nerada, the swarming shadows that consume flesh. Fans may remember that the Vashta Nerada first appeared in Silence In The Library and Forest of the Dead, the two episodes written by Steven Moffat that introduced the character of River Song. And while those episodes saw David Tennant‘s 10th Doctor attempt to outwit the shadow creatures, in this online game, it will be Matt Smith‘s 11th incarnation of the Doctor who’ll battle the threat, along with companion Amy Pond.
Later this month, the theater group Commedia Beauregard will once again be performing A Klingon Christmas Carol, a full-length play based on the classic Charles Dickens tale A Christmas Carol, but with an interesting twist.
This is the fourth year in a row that the group will be staging the play in tlhIngan Hol, the Klingon language heard in the Star Trek television series and films.
Tickets are on sale now through cbtheatre.org for two locations: Saint Paul, MN and Chicago, IL.
