Star Wars films really haven’t been the same since they started opening in December. But this year is different. Fans will be treated to the franchise’s second spinoff, Solo: A Star Wars Story. But before the film opens on Memorial Day weekend, fans will be celebrating May the 4th. You know, May the Force be with you. It’s a Jedi play on words.
So as we get closer to Solo‘s release, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced their latest charity campaign. Starting today, you can give out your best Chewbacca roar on social media. And if you use the #RoarForChange hashtag, Star Wars: Force for Change will donate $1, up to $1 million. More info and the video can be found below.
Despite all of the behind-the-scenes issues that may have occurred during the Solo: A Star Wars Story production, the film still has that Star Wars tag on it, which almost guarantees it will do big things at the box office.
And based on what we have seen so far, it is looking like the film will be a huge hit. In fact, early tracking says it could break the Memorial Day weekend box office record. More on the story below.
If there’s one thing Lando Calrissian is known for, besides his smooth talk, it’s his capes. And we can expect to see a lot of them in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Donald Glover takes on the role made famous by Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back. Now Disney and Lucasfilm have released a brand new featurette that not only gives us a look at all the swag capes, but also the finer details of the Millennium Falcon.
Not only that but there is an exciting new video that sees Solo: A Star Wars Story director Ron Howard narrating the story of Star Wars: A New Hope in the style of Arrested Development.
Later this Summer, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be the latest Star Wars film to hit theaters. Unlike the core saga, Solo is a spinoff that will focus on the titular character’s origins. Han Solo, made famous by Harrison Ford, will now be played by much younger Alden Ehrenreich. Joining him will be Donald Glover, who plays a younger version of the smooth Lando Calrissian. While we have seen a couple of trailers and TV spots for the new film, the latest featurette for Solo details what the spinoff will be about and this is a different universe than we’re used to. Check out the featurette “Becoming Solo” here below.
This year will see the release of yet another Star Wars movie. But it won’t be for the main saga. It will be for the spinoffs. The first was Rogue One. Now, the latest spinoff will center on Han Solo’s start as a smuggler.
