The marketing campaign for Disney’s upcoming The Lion King has relied a lot more on the visual than the auditory. We haven’t heard much from the cast, at least not directly. Any dialogue heard came from characters that are out of sight.
Based on the 1994 animated film of the same name, pioneering filmmaking techniques have been used to bring the iconic characters to the big screen in a whole new way. In addition to the new posters, Disney has also released a special preview of the upcoming film that highlights all of the visual effects that are used to bring these animals to life. Jon Favreau directs this newly updated kinda sorta live-action take on the Walt Disney Animation Studio classic, which sees Simba learning what it takes to be a true king.

Apple has unveiled Apple TV+, their very own subscription-based streaming service. This is a huge moment for the tech giant, which will now be entering the ring with the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu to deliver original content from some of the best storytellers. Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, M. Night Shyamalan, Ron Howard, Octavia Spencer, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Sofia Coppola, Reese Witherspoon, Hailee Steinfeld, and Damien Chazelle are among those who already have titles on the way which will be available exclusively on Apple TV+.

Those watching the Oscars last night might have caught a glimpse of Jon Favreau‘s The Lion King. The film is a CGI remake of the 1994 Academy Award-winning animated film that centered on a young lion cub being groomed to be king of Pride Rock. This new look may feel like familiar territory considering a lot of the footage in it was already seen in the initial teaser trailer. However, it all seems like its setting up for something bigger.
