Second episode of the season, and the second one named for a horror flick. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) returned to Lakewood last week after a time in a rehab center, and she’s being handled with kid gloves by her friends. Noah (John Karna) started a blog about the Piper Shaw murder spree and the Survivor 6, but fans of his blog may be taking things too seriously. A group organized a prank of Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) at her movie theatre job, which almost had disastrous results. Audrey is now receiving texts and calls from an unknown stalker who seems to want to peg her as Piper’s apprentice and conspirator. Emma is haunted by dreams of an old farmhouse which turns out to belong to the brother of Brandon James, the infamous Lakewood killer. Meanwhile after Brooke dumps him in a pool, Jake (Tom Maden) is attacked by a new masked maniac and done in with a scythe. The Survivor 6 is down a man… and counting.

First off, that title right! Last season Emma Duval (Willa Fitzgerald) had her world turned upside down as she was targeted by a masked psychopath obsessed her and her friends and family. Turns out the Lakewood town boogeyman Brandon James, had a fling with Emma’s mom Maggie (Tracy Middendorf), producing an orphaned offspring. That offspring disguised herself as internet blogger and reporter Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire). Emma watched as several of her friends, including her boyfriend, were brutally murdered before delivering the final death blow to Piper herself. Tonight marks Emma’s return from a recovery retreat, and she’s looking to relax with new boyfriend Kieran (Amadeus Serafini), and her friends Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), Noah (John Karna), Brooke (Carlson Young) and Jake (Tom Maden). That’s way too many friends for a sequel… and if you remember Randy’s rules from the film version of Scream 2, then you know sequels are always bloodier with many more victims. Luckily for us; not so much for Emma, there’s a new killer stalking Lakewood, happy to see her return.

Spoilers for Scream ahead…

Watch ‘Scream: The TV Series’ Official Season 2 Trailer

“There are certain rules one must abide by in order to create a successful sequel. Number 1: The body count is always bigger. Number 2: The death scenes are always much more elaborate – more blood, more gore – *carnage candy*. And number 3: Never, ever, under any circumstances assume the killer is dead.”

Randy (Jamie Kennedy), Scream 2, 1997

“Welcome back horror fans…” the show’s “Randy” Noah (John Karna) says to open the trailer to season 2 of MTV’s Scream based on the mid 90s films of the late great Wes Craven. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), fresh off killing the masked murderer and her demented half sister Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire), escaped to a rehab to retreat mentally and physically from the events of season 1. She’s back, and of course her return is marked by more phone calls and a new killer in town.

Check out the season 2 trailer below.

TV Review: Scream 1.10 “Revelations” (Finale)

In Memory of Wes Craven… Thanks for the Screams… classy move by MTV to open the show.

If you have not watched the Scream finale yet, beware of spoilers!

Tonight is the finale to season 1 of MTV’s newest horror series Scream. This season has been a rollercoaster ride for Emma (Willa Fitzgerald). After high school power couple Nina and Tyler (Bella Thorne and Max Lloyd-Jones) are killed Drew Barrymore style, the town of Lakewood is shrouded in mystery and murder on the 20-year anniversary of the notorious Brandon James massacre. Since the opening, we’ve watched poor Riley (Brianne Tju) bleed out on the roof of the police station, quiet Rachel get hanged, and Will (Connor Weil) get his head split in two. Others like Jake (Tom Maden) and Brooke (Carlson Young), have been wounded. There have been plenty of reveals before tonight’s final titular revelation, what with Emma’s mom Maggie (Tracy Middendorf) being not only Brandon James’ love interest, but actually conceiving his child. Audrey and Noah (Bex Taylor-Klaus and John Karna) are the geeky partners in crime who suspected and aided in the capture of the recently escaped convict, former English teacher Seth Branson (Bobby Campo). Who is/are the killer(s)? My pick from very early in the series was podcaster Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose-Blaire), who’s always there to lend support to Emma, and dropped an ominous hint about her dad being killed when she was two. Branson is still a choice as well, as heartthrob Lakewood newcomer Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). Is it one of the characters no one suspects? Will Emma’s dad play a role? With a second season of Scream announced, do we get a resolution, or a cliffhanger?!?! To the finale!

When MTV’s Scream debuted back in June, the hook was crazed Lakewood killer Brandon James, a deformed teen who hid behind a mask and slaughtered five people 20-years ago. After last week’s episode, the question is no longer who the killer is now, but who was the killer 20-years earlier? Brandon James is looking more and more sympathetic as more clues get revealed. Will (Connor Weil) is dead, head split wide open by the killer’s diabolical Saw-esque trap. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) is traumatized, seeing Will’s ghost following her around. She’s also seeing visions of her long gone father; a vision who helps reveal a tremendous secret”¦ her mom had Brandon James’s baby! Maggie (Tracy Middendorf) confesses that they she gave the baby up for adoption but it’s existence caused an end to her marriage. Could baby Brandon James be back to get revenge for daddy’s murder? If you ask Noah (John Karna) and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), they already know the killer… the recently arrested Mr. Branson (Bobby Campo).
