Each and every week, I, “The Famous Cock” Henchman21, and “The Mermaid” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 28, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.
Since we took last week off, we’re here to drop an extra-sized version of the list this time. Sadly, the list contains one series that is nearly ending, and one series that is going to be significantly changing due to a switch in the creative team. But never fear, we’ve got plenty of other brilliant series to point you towards, including one issue that is a great starting point for one of my favorite titles. Dustin Nguyen Teams With Scott Snyder For New ‘American Vampire’ Miniseries
Vertigo Comics announced on Tuesday that Scott Snyder would be bringing fan favorite Dustin Nguyen on art duties for the brand new American Vampire miniseries, Lord of Nightmares.
American Vampire is quite simply a beast. Telling the tales of well, American vampires. This series has helped the effort to redefine the idea of the vampire in modern popular culture and in comics, specifically. It’s brutal; it’s violent; it’s scary. But most importantly, it’s good.

Vertigo Gets Own Digital App; Kicks Things Off With 99 Cent Sale Of Neil Gaiman’s ‘Sandman’
Vertigo Comics announced Wednesday that they’d be kicking off their brand new digital comics app with a 99 cent sale on all Sandman comics.
So, there’s two things going on here: DC Comics has split their Vertigo Comics imprint from the main DC Comics app to give all of the Vertigo titles a digital home. That’s right! New comics like Fairest, Saucer County, Domique Laveau: Voodoo Child and The New Deadwardians will all be going day and date digital, while established books like The Invisibles, American Vampire, The Unwritten, Fables and many, many more will also be making their way to the Vertigo-only app. Which is pretty cool.
