Created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, AMC’s Into the Badlands sliced its way onto TV in the Fall of 2015. The show was the third highest-rated premiere season in cable history, and the special edition Blu-ray is now available A beautiful blend of martial arts action, insane fight choreography, and period-style drama, Into the Badlands was the story of a dystopian future in which society as we know it has collapsed and is replaced by a futuristic style of feudalism. There are forts led by powerful barons, and each baron has an army of well trained soldiers.
While we have to wait until October for The Walking Dead to return to AMC with Season 7, next month will see the home entertainment release for the DVD and Blu-ray for the complete Season 6 via Anchor Bay Entertainment.

Back in December, we saw a trailer for Battle of the Damned, an upcoming action flick with The Expendables, Universal Soldier, and Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren. The movie comes from Anchor Bay, and follows a man named Gatling (Lundgren) who’s tasked with entering a quarantined city that’s been devastated by a virus that’s turned its residents into zombies and rescue a girl who’s stuck inside…all with the help of a killer robot army. Cool.
The movie is being released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 18, 2014, and you can read a full synopsis and check out the exclusive clip, titled “Serious Nerdgasm,” here below now!
Anchor Bay has acquired a movie titled Nothing to Fear, the first to be produced by Slasher Films, which was started by legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash along with Rob Eric and Michael Williams.
The movie follows a family who makes that always dangerous horror movie decision to start fresh in a small town. This particular small town happens to be an actual town in Kansas called Stull. The town has about 20 residents and a decades old legend that one of the seven gateways to hell is located in its small cemetery, and that the Devil himself comes out to walk the Earth a couple of times a year there. Seeing as how it’s not likely you’ll bump into Satan hanging out in Kansas, it makes plenty of sense to bring the legend to life through film.
Having been able to attend both the SXSW Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival this year, there have been many films to qualify as true-blue surprises in the eyes of this writer. Be it the brilliance of Aki Kaurismaki’s Le Havre or the terror-induced by Insidious, it has been a relatively eventful year. However, one of the biggest surprises came from one of the film world’s most maligned genre experts.
I got the chance to see Xavier Gens’ (Hitman) latest film, The Divide at SXSW this year, and it quickly became one of my favorite genre pieces this year. And now, the world, thanks to Anchor Bay, will not only get to see this shockingly great, if intensely brooding, bit of apocalyptic filmmaking, but see in its original state.
