Finding Dory

As beautifully animated as Finding Nemo was, the real star of the show was Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), a regal blue tang fish whose memory lasted as long as she could swim. The character provided the humor in a story about a father searching for his son. But the film didn’t really explore how Dory ended up in Australian waters or how she became so forgetful. Flash forward to 2016, and we are getting a sequel called Finding Dory.

Disney”¢Pixar has just released a new trailer for the film that takes a look at Dory’s journey across the pacific in search for her family. Along the way we see familiar faces, meet new friends, and learn that aquatic animals don’t like to be poked or prodded by human fingers. Check out the full trailer below.

Finding Dory

After a short-lived stint with live-action films, Andrew Stanton returns home to direct Finding Dory, a sequel to the fan favorite Finding Nemo. Angus MacLane (Toy Story of Terror) joins him as co-director. Rather than just have another story about a missing fish, the follow-up changes a few things up by making Dory go missing after realizing that she got separated from her family after being hit with short-term memory loss. Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks will reprise their voice roles as Dory and Marlin respectively, with Hayden Rolence replacing Alexander Gould as Nemo.

During the Walt Disney Animation Studios presentation at the D23 Expo on Friday, we learned that Finding Dory will be adding Ty Burrell (Modern Family) as Bailey, a beluga white whale, Ed O’Neill (Modern Family) an octopus with a missing arm, and Kaitlin Olson (Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as a whale shark. More here below on their characters plus a description of the footage that was shown at the panel.

Toy Story

The Walt Disney Company chairman Bob Iger has officially announced that Pixar is making Toy Story 4, and that original Toy Story director John Lasseter will be returning to helm the fourth installment himself.

Disney has also locked in the June 16, 2017 calendar spot for a release date. The story will see Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys beginning a new chapter. The idea for the story was developed by some of the Pixar Brain Trust, including two-time Oscar-winner Lasseter (Toy Story, Tin Toy), two-time Oscar winner Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, WALL-E), Oscar winner Pete Docter (Up), and Toy Story 2 co-director and Oscar-winning Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich.
