The GoD List: Comics For July 23, 2015
  |  @   |

Each and every week, I, “Ant-Man!” Henchman 21 and “The Wasp!” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of July 23, 2015. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

There are weeks when I get excited about scores of books that are being released. And then there are other weeks. This is one of those other weeks, as we get a whole batch of very good comics; Secret Wars is still rolling, DC continues to roll out new books in their most recent relaunch, IDW, Dark Horse, Image and the others pump out a fine line of books. So, we’re just going with a shorter list this week, including a long running series ending in a spectacular fashion, a book from last week that I didn’t get a chance to talk about, and a book you probably never thought you would see. Let’s get The GoD List started!

Each and every week, I, “Not at SDCC!” Henchman 21 and “Ditto!” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of July 8, 2015. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Yes, it’s that time of year again, time for the biggest comics convention in America, even if the show has moved beyond being just about comics. But it’s okay, all comic conventions have moved past comics to one degree or another. Sorry, got off track there. It’s San Diego week, which means there are a lot of new series and big hardcovers out this week to entice buyers at the show and even those of us not at the show. In fact, it’s better for those of us not going to SDCC, because we don’t have to wait in line and then figure out how to lug all this stuff back in our luggage. So rejoice at the ease with which you can buy your comics, for it is truly a good week to celebrate comics. And celebrate we shall on this week’s The GoD List!

I hope you all had a nice Free Comic Book Day and picked up lots of goodies, but it’s back to business as usual, and that means you’ve got to pay for your comics this week. There is a lot of great stuff out this week, including the start of a huge event, a comic that is an event every time it comes out, and some of the best comics from around the world. It’s time for The GoD List!

Archie Vs. Sharknado: Who Will Prevail This Summer?
  |  @   |

For those of us simply can’t get enough Sharknado, fear not! The third installment of the somehow someway mega SyFy channel hit is coming this summer. And with it is coming the first Sharknado comic-crossover, Archie Vs. Sharknado! That’s right, one of America’s longest running comic characters is meeting up with”¦ flying sharks.

Archie, who first debuted during WWII (!!!) has found new life in crossover comics with some highly unlikely characters. Back in 2011, we got Archie Meets Kiss, and in 2013 Archie crossed the cultural zeitgeist in Archie Meets Glee. For those wondering if Archie can handle the danger”¦ Archie Vs. Predator came out this week. Now, as the killer weather formation moves down the east coast towards Washington DC (with President Marc Cuban and VP Ann Coulter), it will hit Archie’s fictional city of Riverdale. Maybe Ian Ziering and David Hasselhoff can help Archie, Betty, Veronica and the gang.

Wow, those Predators really get around. We know from the films that they treat our world like their own personal hunting lease. We’ve seen them fight virtually everything under the sun from Batman to Aliens to Tarzan, but nothing could have prepared us for Archie Vs. Predator #1! I saw this one in the lists and just knew I had to read it. And I bet you’re curious, too!

The setting is Riverdale as our buddy Archie and his pals debate on what to do on their Spring Break. Thanks to a miraculous windfall of Jughead’s, the group gets a free trip to a beach resort. The odd ducks out here are Cheryl and Jason, who seem bent on making life difficult for the teens.
