It’s interesting the way life seems to create coincidences. Take this comic book, The Tithe #1, for instance. I was just yesterday speaking with friends regarding the way some televangelists seem hellbent on bilking their viewers for every cent they have. Not to say ALL of them are like this, but there have been a notable few that have been caught and (somewhat) prosecuted for their crimes. Well, this comic spins in a slightly different direction.

Prefacing with an ironic quote from Jim Bakker, our story begins in a church on a typical Sunday in California. What seems like just another mega-church singing and giving praise quickly turns into a crime scene, albeit with few people noticing immediately. For you see, a covert group actually perpetrated an almost perfect robbery.

In the interest of fairness, I should warn you all ahead of time that I am a life long, die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. With that being said, I can guarantee you that that will have NO bearing on my review and opinions of Seraph #1. I’ve read and reviewed three of the Top Cow Pilot Season titles today and I can honestly say, that this is the one that I liked the most. It’s by far the most original, with a very interesting concept created by Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs and fleshed out by writer Phil Hester. It’s a great blend of super heroics/the supernatural and, unfortunately, reality for some unfortunate people.

‘Jonah Hex’ Motion Comic Now Available!
  |

With the upcoming Jonah Hex live- action film (out in theaters on June 18) starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, it seems like the perfect time to visit some adventures from Mr. Hex’s past. Warner Premiere believes the best way to do that is to buy their 8th motion comic, Jonah Hex Motion Comics.

Based on the comics written by John Albano and drawn by Tony DeZuniga, these new Jonah Hex Motion Comics are perfect for all you western lovers out there. If you recall, Warner Premiere is the same company that brought us both the Batman: Black and White and Watchmen Motion Comics series.

Over the course of 7 episodes, which will lead up to the theatrical release, the Motion Comics specifically cover three archival stories from Jonah Hex’s comics past. The first five episodes are adapted from the graphic novel Two Gun Mojo, which features Jonah Hex seeking justice and revenge against Doc Williams and his gang over a murdered friend. The other two stories are taken from the 1970’s comics The Gunfighter and The Hangin’ Woman. Viewers should be aware these stories are re-colored and animated for the first time.
