Jon Favreau‘s The Lion King is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated films of 2019. We saw a small snippet of the live-action take of the animated opening sequence at D23, which pretty much tells us that this will be a visually stunning film. But that was just the beginning.
Jimmy Fallon made lip sync battling cool on The Tonight Show and soon it was spun off into its own series on Spike TV. Likewise, James Corden introduced the Carpool Karaoke segment to the world in The Late Late Show and now Carpool Karaoke is a new show with Billy Eichner on Apple Music. On the next episode, Eichner is joined by one of the most legendary bands of all time, Metallica.

Another has been added to the cast of Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King, with Luke Cage star Alfre Woodard signing on.
Woodard will be voicing the mother of Simba and mate of Mufasa, Sarabi. The character was voiced in the original animated movie by the late Madge Sinclair.
Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King.
If a deal is a reached, Ejiofor would take on the role of Scar, the film’s villain. Scar is the not-so-popular brother of the king, Mufasa, and the uncle to Mufasa’s son and future king, Simba.
Last Week Tonight host John Oliver has joined the cast of The Lion King, Disney’s live-action remake of their animated classic of the same name.
Oliver will voice the role of Zazu, the uptight bird who acts as an advisor to Mufasa. The character was voiced by Rowan Atkinson, better known by some as Mr. Bean, in the original animated movie.
