Jac Schaeffer Hired To Write ‘Black Widow’ Standalone Movie For Marvel
Marvel has hired Jac Schaeffer to write the screenplay for Black Widow, a standalone movie for the character played by Scarlett Johansson in The Avengers and sequels Age of Ultron and the upcoming Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and sequel Captain America: Civil War, and more.
A standalone movie for Johansson’s character has been wanted by many for a long time now, but nothing has ever materialized. Marvel confirmed they were developing the project back in 2014, but this is the first real progress toward finally putting together a movie since then.

Scarlett Johansson Has Some Ideas For A Possible ‘Black Widow’ Standalone Movie
Of all the heroes we know about that exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we know very little bout Black Widow’s history. In the five films that we have seen her in, her backstory was given in vague and sparse details. That sort of mystery would be enough for the character to get her own movie. In fact, in 2014, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige said a Black Widow movie was in development. But as we get closer to Avengers: Infinity War and Scarlett Johansson‘s contract is near expiration, it’s becoming more likely that a Black Widow film will not happen.
However, Johansson hasn’t given up hope. While she knows there is enough material for a standalone film to happen, she isn’t oblivious to the fact that she doesn’t know how much longer she will play the character. Check out what kind of ideas she has for a Black Widow film below.
