Sony Pictures Entertainment has released an official trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the upcoming animated feature starring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales.

The movie is set in a world where more than one person with the abilities of the spider are walking (or jumping or crawling or swinging) around the city. One of those people is none other than Peter Parker (voiced by Jake Johnson), who will mentor Morales. This mentor was briefly shown in the teaser trailer last December. The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, and Lily Tomlin.

‘Dope’ Star Shameik Moore To Voice Miles Morales In Animated Spider-Man Spinoff
  |  @   |

At first, Sony tried to launch a Spider-Man franchise full of sequels and spinoffs. However, The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s less than spectacular box office performance forced the studio to pull the plug. Since then they’ve revamped those plans by sharing the Wallcrawler with Marvel Studios, creating a separate universe with his supporting characters, and announced an animated spinoff film.

Now we know who will be voicing the lead role in that yet-to-be-titled animated Spider-Man film. It has been confirmed that Dope star Shameik Moore will voice Miles Morales. More on the story below.

Spider-Man Animated Film Finds A Director
  |  @   |

Spider-Man: Homecoming isn’t the only film about the Webslinger that Sony Pictures is currently working on. Sony Animation Pictures will be responsible for a currently untitled Spider-Man animated film that the studio is working on. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have both worked on the film in a creative capacity, both having written the treatment, with Lord writing the script, and both will produce. Many expected that the two would eventually be named as directors of the film, but then came word that they would direct the Han Solo movie. While this might have stalled the production of the animated film about the webslinger, it appears that Sony has found its director.

New reports say Bob Persichetti will direct the Spider-Man animated movie. More on the story below.

The Little Prince has been adapted. Again. But, for those who are tired of the onslaught of adaptations and sequels, the new film adaptation manages to do something quite “novel,” to turn a phrase. Director Mark Osborne has constructed something to surprise people familiar with the work without alienating those fans in the least.

The plot device of The Little Prince lay in the character of an un-named little girl (Mackenzie Foy), the only child of a single mother (Rachel McAdams) who’s fiercely dedicated to bringing her daughter up with the best opportunities available. Mind you, no one’s downtrodden and there’s not a lick of poverty in the film; rather, it’s as much an exploration of middle class upward mobility (that’s only too American) as it is anything else. Our little girl is bright, fun loving, and shy — nearly the inverse of our Little Prince. She meets the titular character through The Aviator, an ancient man played by Jeff Daniels who mirrors the spirit, life experiences, and adventures of the author of the original work: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
