What’s the most exciting return going on in comics today? The Return of Bruce Wayne? No, the Return of Buzz Lightyear!

You know, as I am being exposed to more and more kid-friendly comics, I find myself truly appreciating their appeal. Lighthearted humor mixed with a small dose of drama to propel a storyline is the perfect combination to make a successful all-ages and family-friendly story, whether it be traditional prose, television, film, or comics, and this Toy Story series from BOOM! Kids definitely meets the criteria.

With a story based on the popular Disney/Pixar franchise, the Toy Story comic book truly expands the universe of Andy’s Room. In Toy Story: The Return of Buzz Lightyear, Andy mistakenly receives a gift of another Buzz Lightyear who is so determined to stay in Andy’s Room and claim the title of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, that he fights and places our Buzz Lightyear into the new toy’s package and has him returned to the Toy Store.

In the latest issue of The Muppet Show Comic Book, Statler and Waldorf are still playing a game of cosmic chess involving the Muppets. They arranged for Skeeter to show up and get a job there, and now they’re introducing Miss Piggy’s nephews, Randy and Andy Pig. Statler and Waldorf’s main goal seems to be manipulating events in order to create chaos, and these two are the perfect candidates. Randy and Andy are not very bright, clumsy, and cause constant trouble for the other Muppets.

Will the Muppets be able to deal with Randy and Andy’s “help” for an entire week? Read it and find out.

Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 28, 2010

Well here we go again with a brand new story arc in the wonderful ongoing series based off a Pixar movie The Incredibles. If you haven’t been reading the series up to this point don’t get too uptight because you will be able to jump on with this issue. The fact that you can jump onto this story arc with each new arc is definitely a plus, especially since it is meant for the younger audience and it would be harder to expect them to go back and read everything that has happened up to this point. As always Landry Walker‘s writing is very fluid and easy to follow.

Well at this point in the story we find out a couple things. There is a crime committed to set the mood for the book in who The Incredibles will be dealing with this arc. We also see that it is time for Violet to get a job because she needs to be responsible like the adult she says she is. The most exciting story point that I want to see more of is that Dash is now going to begin his training. Mr. Incredible makes it sound mysterious and dangerous, but hopefully we will see for ourselves.

Toy Story #3 continues the ongoing series with part four of The Return of Buzz Lightyear. This storyline started with Andy receiving a new Buzz Lightyear toy. When they found out that Andy was going to return the new Buzz Lightyear for a different toy, we see the new Buzz force the old Buzz, or ‘Sally’, into the box so he doesn’t have to return to the shelf of the store. This spurs a rescue mission with the new Buzz and the recently purchased Booster. In the last issue, new Buzz and Sally are in a race to see who should go back to Andy and the new Buzz cheats by releasing a display of bouncing balls to stop Sally from winning the race. In this issue, we see the conclusion of the race and a lot of the backstory of the new Buzz and the end of his adventure.
