‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Scribe Adele Lim Exits Sequel Due To Pay Disparity

As soon as Jon M. Chu is done working on his adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights, he will move back to working on China Rich Girlfriend, the sequel to Crazy Rich Asians.

Unfortunately, he will have to do it without Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim, who has left the sequel due to the pay disparity that Warner Bros offered. According to reports, her co-writer Peter Chiarelli was offered $800,000 to $1 million, while Lim was only offered $110,000-plus. More on the report below.

New Trailer For ‘The Goldfinch’ Starring Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman Released

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for The Goldfinch, which is based on author Donna Tartt‘s book of the same name.

The movie comes from Brooklyn and Boy A director John Crowley, and stars Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman. You can find a lengthy synopsis for The Goldfinch below, along with the new trailer, a previously released trailer and first-look video for anyone who missed them, and a poster.

‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Sequel In Development With Jon M. Chu and Creative Team Returning

Crazy Rich Asians made a very impressive debut last weekend, opening to $25 million and finishing with a grand total of $36 million if you count the five-day total after it officially opened on Wednesday. The rom-com captivated the world with its fantastic performances from Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Awkwafina, and Michelle Yeoh. And now it looks like a sequel is in order.

According to new reports, the creative forces that helped put the first movie together are getting back together for a sequel titled China Rich Girlfriend — both of which are adaptations of author Kevin Kwan‘s books of the same name. More on the story below. Minor spoilers will follow.

‘Y: The Last Man’ TV Series Finds A Showrunner In ‘Logan,’ ‘Blade Runner 2’ Writer

A little over a year ago it was reported that the long in development movie based on Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra‘s comic book series Y: The Last Man was no more, and that it was instead being developed as a TV series for FX.

The adaptation is still in development today, but has now taken a big step toward becoming a reality. It’s being reported that Michael Green has signed on to be the series’ showrunner. Green is already currently the showrunner of another highly anticipated TV series, Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods along with co-showrunner Bryan Fuller. Fuller also took on a second showrunner job, the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery TV series, but departed that project last month.

‘Y: The Last Man’ TV Series Being Developed By FX

A movie adaptation of writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra‘s extraordinary comic book series Y: The Last Man has been in the works for many years now, but it never felt right. The series ran 60 issues, and there was far too much great content to fit into a movie. Even a trilogy of movies would have been difficult. On top of that many believed the movie would have to be R-rated, and that was something the movie studio wasn’t very likely to do. No, this was something that belonged on TV somewhere with few rules and restrictions such as HBO.

If you were among those who wished with crossed fingers that Y: The Last Man would not work out as a movie and would one day end up being turned into a TV series, it appears that your wishes are coming true. It’s being reported that the comic is now being developed as a series at FX.
