The Star Wars film universe will never be the same now that Disney has started to release spinoffs. These films are part of a larger anthology that will explore parts of the untold stories of the mythology. Much of which has revolved around the Skywalker saga. Solo: A Star Wars Story is a departure from what we have seen since Disney acquired the property, but it also stays true to the spirit of stories that take place in a galaxy far, far away.
Of course, it is incredibly risky when making an origins movie about a character as iconic as Han Solo. But if it is done right, it can pay off in the long run. While Solo may be a little rough around the edges – just like its title character – it is the kind of spinoff that will not disappoint. Check out my full review below.
Later this Summer, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be the latest Star Wars film to hit theaters. Unlike the core saga, Solo is a spinoff that will focus on the titular character’s origins. Han Solo, made famous by Harrison Ford, will now be played by much younger Alden Ehrenreich. Joining him will be Donald Glover, who plays a younger version of the smooth Lando Calrissian. While we have seen a couple of trailers and TV spots for the new film, the latest featurette for Solo details what the spinoff will be about and this is a different universe than we’re used to. Check out the featurette “Becoming Solo” here below.
This year will see the release of yet another Star Wars movie. But it won’t be for the main saga. It will be for the spinoffs. The first was Rogue One. Now, the latest spinoff will center on Han Solo’s start as a smuggler.
Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as the title character made iconic by Harrison Ford. Directed by Ron Howard, the newest TV spot proves that this spinoff will be a lot of fun. Check it out below.
LucasFilm has dropped the second trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film, which is the second Star Wars spinoff to be released, will center on a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) who goes on a galactic adventure and befriends Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), while also detailing how the nerf-herder came into possession of the iconic Millennium Falcon. Check out the trailer here below.
When Lucasfilm fired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller from Solo: A Star Wars Story, it came at a very bad time. The Star Wars spin-off was just about to be completed before the directors were given the axe due to creative reasons. Ron Howard would then step in as their replacement. But that even came with its own complications. While the “creative differences” excuse has been thrown around in situations like these, it appears there is some truth to it.
More on what lead up to Lord and Miller’s firing, how Howard did not want the gig at first, and what George Lucas did to help Howard. Check it all out here below.
