Beautiful Trailer For Animated Film ‘Song Of The Sea’ Released
  |  @   |

The 2009 animated feature The Secret of Kells is one of the real treats you can discover for the first time on Netflix, a wonderful little movie you’ll no doubt be happy you watched. This is solidified by the fact that the movie was nominated for a Best Animated Feature Academy Award, though in an excellent year for animated films that saw it competing with an impressive mix of animation styles including Pixar’s Up, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Princess and the Frog, and Coraline (with Up taking home the Oscar).

Now, five years later, director Tomm Moore is back with another animated flick titled Song of the Sea. The movie features the voices of David Rawle, Brendan Gleeson, Fionnula Flanagan, Lisa Hannigan, Lucy O’Connell, Jon Kenny, Pat Shortt, and Liam Hourican.

You can read a synopsis and watch a trailer for the movie below.

Screenwriters: Christopher McQuarrie, Jez and John-Henry Butterworth
Cast: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson
Warner Bros. Pictures
Rated PG-13 | 113 Minutes
Release Date: June 6, 2013

Live. Die. Repeat.

Directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity), Edge of Tomorrow is an ambitious science-fiction film that also serves as an entertaining thesis on electronic gaming and its symbiotic relationship with modern filmmaking.

Based on the novel All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, the film takes place in the near future where an alien race – the Mimics – has invaded the Earth and overtaken most of Western Europe. The Mimics can anticipate and counter our combat strategies with ease, making them unstoppable. To stand a chance against them, we create battle suits – armored exoskeletons reminiscent of the Power Loader from Aliens or the hydraulic battle chassis from The Matrix Trilogy.

‘Doctor Who’ Star Matt Smith In ‘In Bruges’ Deleted Scene (Video)
  |  @   |

Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges is one of my all-time favorite movies. It’s dark and twisted and funny and not a movie you can easily forget.

Though I love the movie, I’ve never seen any of the special features. And as it turns out, fan favorite Doctor Who star Matt Smith had a role in a flashback as a younger Harry, the role played by Ralph Fiennes, that was ultimately cut from the final film. After watching the scene you can see why it was cut, but it’s still cool to see.

You can check out Matt Smith’s deleted In Bruges scene below, but be warned: it does contain some violent content and should be considered NSFW.

Movie Review: Safe House

Safe House
Directed by Daniel Espinosa
Starring Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Vera Farmiga, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Shepherd and Robert Patrick
Release Date: February 10, 2012

Corruption at the top of any organization is a touchy subject for a director to be curious about. When done right, a film depicting corruption, like Polanski’s Chinatown or The Ghost Writer, is an impressive and immersive experience. Navigating through the hypocrisy and crookedness is an act of a polished director at the top of his craft who wants to enlighten audiences about reality, not entertain them. Swedish director Daniel Espinosa is introducing himself to American audiences with a hesitating and not so sharp portrait of corruption. He wants to exploit the supposed corruption occurring in intelligence units across the world, such as CIA agents and M16 agents. Instead of having a firm and confident command on a narrative structure that would get his point across, all of his energy is directed toward articulating sensational action scenes that reek of implausibility. Espinosa has an interesting foundation to build upon thanks to David Guggenheim‘s script. Coherency and logic, though, are neglected, and an overwhelming amount of dynamism is relied on to entertain audiences, dismissing words and dialogue for guns and fists of fury.
