On this week’s The Drill Down podcast, did Russia and China attempt to interfere with the Brexit vote as well?, Dallas emergency sirens hacked, Taser offers bodycams to every U.S. police officer, Tesla tops U.S. automakers, and, yes, we’re gonna talk about that United Airlines thing… all this and much, much more.
This week, the tech world responds to BREXIT, Microsoft revises Asimov’s laws of robotics, Facebook and YouTube filter out extremist content, Facebook wants you to see more of your friends’ content, why the car in that ad may not be what you think it is, Boston Dynamics brings a robot to the home, and much, much more.
So last week, as everyone in the world seems to know by now, Brexit happened. A portmanteaux of the words Britain and exit, the people of the United Kingdom voted to leave the economic zone of the European Union, or the EU. There are a lot of politics involved in Brexit, but frankly, we’re not so concerned with that.
What we are concerned with is awesome, geeky stuff. And to that end, on her show Full Frontal comedienne Samantha Bee managed to create an incredibly new geeky term, “British Twitter,” and coupled it with one of our favorite imports here at Geeks of Doom, Doctor Who. Not only that, she was able to incorporate not ONE, but TWO of the many faces portraying our favorite Time Lord.
The clip is just over two minutes and will probably make any and all U.S. fans of BBC America laugh — really hard. Try and keep the soda from streaming out of your nose.
