The new film Gerald’s Game marks the fourth Stephen King adaptation of 2017. This summer’s The Dark Tower was universally panned and flopped at the box office, yet It, conversely, is currently breaking box office records. Mr. Mercedes is a television series on a new platform, AT&T’s Audience Network, while Gerald’s Game landed on Netflix right before Halloween season officially begins. King’s novel Gerald’s Game was published in May 1992 and remained one of the author’s lesser-known works until Netflix optioned it. Directed by Mike Flanagan, one of horror’s up and coming auteurs, who co-wrote the screenplay with collaborator Jeff Howard, the results are a tour-de-force of filmmaking and acting that needs to be watched, albeit from between the fingers of your hand covering your face.
The latest adaptation of Stephen King‘s IT is in theaters this week, and it’s getting rave reviews and looks like it’s going to be a box office hit as well. But that’s not the only King adaptation coming this month. Netflix has a movie based on the author’s Gerald’s Game coming soon, and they’ve released a first trailer for it.
The movie comes from Oculus, Hush, Absentia, and Ouija: Origin of Evil director Mike Flanagan, and it stars Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Henry Thomas, and Kate Siegel.

A couple of years back Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures announced an August 2016 release date for a movie titled Spectral, which was set to be helmed by commercials director Nic Mathieu. The movie is a military thriller about a special-ops team sent in to deal with a supernatural force wreaking havoc on a European city.
Spectral ended up being pulled from the originally scheduled release, however, and distribution was eventually acquired by Netflix. A new trailer for the movie has been released online ahead of its release in a couple of days on the streaming service, and you can check it out below.
If gamers were ever to be recruited to fight for their country during wartime, the place they would likely be most useful is as drone pilots, which involves controlling a device capable of great damage and destruction from a remote location.
In the upcoming movie Good Kill, a former fighter pilot (Ethan Hawke) becomes a drone pilot, where he fights Taliban from a distance. The movie also stars Bruce Greenwood, Jake Abel, January Jones, and Zoe Kravitz, and is directed by Andrew Niccol.
A trailer for the movie has been released by Voltage Pictures, and you can check it out along with a better description of the movie below.
It’s pretty well-known that if J.J. Abrams is going to be attached to anything, we won’t know much about it until we see the actual film. It’s something of a standard practice for the filmmaker to keep the audiences interested throughout the production of his projects, and although Star Trek Into Darkness is just under two month away, we are still nowhere closer to finding out the details of Benedict Cumberbatch’s villainous character in the sequel. But some new pictures from Empire should be more than enough to whet our geek appetite until the film’s release.
