DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment revealed the February 28 release date and box cover art for the next DC animated feature, Justice League: Doom.
Justice League: Doom, an animated film based off of the events of Mark Waid’s Tower of Babel story, is the next movie in the popular line of animated films featuring the characters of DC Comics. The feature will star a wide variety of actors voicing the members of The Justice League including Nathan Fillion as The Green Lantern, Michael Rosenbaum as The Flash (Barry Allen), Tim Daly as Superman, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman and the return of Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman.
Put on your capes and cowls, everybody! There’s pine needles on the living room floor, snow on the ground, and a scent of cinnamon in the air. Your dogs and cats are tearing apart wrapping paper, your family’s in town and you can’t stop drinking sparkling cider for some reason. That could only mean one thing, folks, it’s the nondescript religious holiday season! And that means that it’s time to go into credit card debt so that you can show those closest to you that you care, you know? And to make it a little bit easier on you guys, we here at Geeks of Doom have been shoveling our driveways so that we can deliver to you this, The Holiday Geek Gift Guide – Batman Edition! The best bat-gifts possible for the geeks on you gift-giving list!
As you can see, I’ve changed up the intro a smidge, and that’s simply because today we celebrate the holiday in the best way possible, with The Batman. Yes, The Batman. And while it may not make much sense to you that we’re doing this, you fail to realize that Batman makes everything better. In fact, the presence of Batman-centric holiday gift guide on this site makes not only this site better, but also it makes the world better. And isn’t that truly what the holidays are about? Making things better or something like that? Sure, why not! Anyway, it’s been a pretty big year for The Dark Knight, and that will certainly be evidenced by the majority of this list. We’ll also be making it a little easier on you by narrowing this list down by separate topics such as comics (and comic-inspired items), statues, Batman: Year One, and Arkham City. Sure there will be some overlap, but that’s all right because we’re talking about Batman! So let’s start of with the merriest of merries, comic books!
New York Comic-Con 2011 saw the premiere of the first episode of the all-new Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Geeks of Doom was there to watch it. The show will launch on November 11th on Cartoon Network with the one-hour episode that was shown. The animated series will then take a bit of a break before returning to Cartoon Network in the spring as part of the DC Nation block of programming.
The series is produced by animation legend Bruce Timm, but according to Timm, is not a part of the unofficial “Timm-verse” which includes shows such as Batman: The Animated Series, Superman, and Justice League. During the panel, Timm remarked that some fans had attempted to link the universes together, but he wasn’t really buying it.
Saturday at New York Comic-Con 2011 saw the first public screening of the first episode of the new Green Lantern: The Animated Series. We will have a full run down of the first episode later, but first we will show you the first scene, which DC/Warner Bros has released to the public.
Watch the opening scene here below.
This is just a taste of the series, but I can tell you that the rest of the episode followed in both art style and in the brutality of the action.
The power players from DC Entertainment‘s Animated Universe hit the stage at New York Comic-Con this weekend to discuss some of their upcoming projects including Batman: Year One, the Catwoman animated short, and Justice League: Doom.
The panelists on stage for the discussion were voice casting director Andrea Romano, Bruce Timm, and Batman himself, Kevin Conroy, who was a surprise panelist (Conroy had been in the IGN Theater early in the day for the panel for Batman: Arkham Asylum, in which he also voices Batman).
