For reasons beyond my (or anyone’s for that matter) understanding, Millennium Films hiredBryan Singer to direct a film adaptation of the Red Sonja even though the filmmaker has a reputation for poor on-set behavior and has been surrounded by a myriad of sexual assault allegations.
Though many have tried to take the pages of the comic book to the big screen, Singer’s hiring was as close as it got to getting the project off the ground. While the director has been quick to deny the sexual assault allegations, guilds and societies have made an effort to distance themselves from him. This includes the people behind the Oscar-nominated Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen biopic from which Singer was fired.
Now it looks like enough is enough, as Millennium has put Red Sonja on hold. More on the report here below.
Bohemian Rhapsody Director: Bryan Singer Writers: Anthony McCarten Cast: Rami Malek, Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aidan Gillen, Tom Hollander, Allen Leech, Mike Myers Studio: 20th Century Fox Rated PG-13 | 134 Minutes Release Date: November 2, 2018
Bohemian Rhapsody buzzes with electricity from the moment Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen step foot on stage. Watching these musical sequences is like witnessing a legendary act that deserves to be seen live. And although the film did have its production problems, it holds together well thanks to Rami Malek‘s performance as the iconic Freddie Mercury.
Still, no film is without its faults. While the supporting cast is great as they are doing the best with what they are given, the minor issues are not nearly enough to overshadow Malek, who is the beating heart of this film, and the musical performances that will surely have you stomp your foot and clap repeatedly. Check out my review of Bohemian Rhapsody below.
Bryan Singer is no stranger to scandals and poor on-set behavior, and yet, the guy still keeps getting offers to direct films. And despite his reported unprofessionalism, it looks like he is getting another chance to direct a film. New reports say that Singer has signed on to helm a big-screen adaptation of Red Sonja for Millennium. More on the story below.

Singer claims that he was absent to address a family matter. However, the studio promised that they would find a director to finish the job, which had two weeks of production left on the schedule.
Now it appears that they have found him. Reports confirm that Eddie The Eagle director Dexter Fletcher will be Singer’s replacement. More on the story below.
