A while back it was rumored that Frank Miller was interested in directing a new Buck Rogers movie. Now, it’s being reported that Odd Lot Entertainment, the studio behind Miller’s Christmas Day debut The Spirit, are in negotiations to option the rights of Buck Rogers from Nu Image/Millennium, who obviously didn’t find any use for the property.
Buck Rogers is one of those characters that has been around for decades, having debuted in 1928 and shown up in many various forms from comic to TV to movies. No word on what the storyline would be if Frank Miller takes the story, just that it would likely be a darker take on the character doing heroic stuff in space.
It will be curious to see how this plays out. One would assume that Odd Lot might want to wait and see how The Spirit does before committing to something like this; and if early reports are any indication, it doesn’t sound like The Spirit will be breaking any records.
