6 Must-See (And Drink) Cocktails Inspired By 2011’s Top Video Games
  |  @   |

Video games? Booze?! Go on, I’m listening…I’m listening.

2011 saw some incredible video games released (mostly in that small chunk of fall when bunches of them were raining down on us), but what can make a great video game even better? Why, an adult beverage concocted in the name of these very same games, of course.

The Guardian’s Games Blog reached out to James Dance, owner of the video game bar called Loading and master of the mixological arts, to create some cocktails for six of 2011’s top video game titles: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, L.A. Noire, Portal 2, and Batman: Arkham City.

Continue on below to check out the recipes for each of these wild creations, as well as images of what they should look like!

‘Crysis 2’ Is Most Pirated Game Of 2011; ‘Fast Five’ Tops Movies
  |  @   |

TorrentFreak has released a rundown of the most pirated video games and movies of 2011.

Topping the list of games is the PC version of German developer Crytek’s hit sequel Crysis 2 with 3.92 million downloads, which is something of a surprise considering how many huge titles were released last year. It was followed by a much more expected name in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was downloaded 3.65 million times for the PC. Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, and Portal 2 rounded out the PC list.

‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ Sets Yet Another Record With $1 Billion Mark
  |  @   |

When James Cameron’s Avatar took movie theaters by storm, obliterating every record in sight including the seemingly untouchable $600 million mark set by another Cameron movie, Titanic, very few people thought a day would soon come where that new record fell.

Shockingly, though no movie has or likely will come close for a long time, it’s a video game that has nudged its way into Avatar‘s personal record bubble. Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has reached $1 billion, and it has done so in only 16 days. That tops Avatar, which pulled it off in 17 days.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Xbox 360 | PS3 | PC
DEVELOPER: Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games
PUBLISHER: Activision
WRITER: Paul Haggis
STARRING: Kevin McKidd, Billy Murray, William Fichtner, Idris Elba, Timothy Olyphant
RELEASE DATE: November 8, 2011

The Call of Duty franchise has become a juggernaut in the video game industry—with titles like World at War, Black Ops, and, biggest of all, the Modern Warfare series contributing to what has become a more profitable franchise than both Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, to name a couple.

While I’ve always loved first-person shooters, I was late to the Call of Duty games for one reason or another and only recently jumped in head first a year or so back when I first played Modern Warfare and decided to finally try this “multiplayer” thing out with Black Ops. As was the case with most people, I too was sucked in fairly quickly, and, after getting pretty decent at multiplayer action, began getting pumped for the newest and biggest Call of Duty title to date, Modern Warfare 3.
