Disney’s D23 Expo tends to close out its studio panel in a very big way, and they did that by giving attendees a first look today at some scenes from Frozen 2. A sequel to 2013’s massively successful Frozen, the animated film continues the adventures of Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel), who journey with their friends Olaf (Josh Gad), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), and Sven (also Groff) outside of the comfort of the kingdom of Arendelle, to discover the truth about Elsa’s powers and what happened to their parents. Along the way, they will discover where Anna and Elsa’s parents were going and that the past isn’t what it appears to be. See more below for our on-site coverage from D23.
Walt Disney Animation Studios teased us with a beautifully animated Frozen 2 trailer a few months back. Though it was a bit vague, it was clear that sequel would take a darker turn.
Now a new trailer reveals a bit more of the plot. In it, Elsa (Idina Menzel) is trying to understand her powers, and will go on a journey to discover the truth about them. And with the help of her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), the ice collecting Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), and cheery snowman Olaf (Josh Gad), they will discover that there may be more to Elsa’s powers than meets the eye. Check out the trailer and some images below.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the first teaser for Frozen 2, the sequel to the wildly popular and successful Frozen.
Though we don’t know much about it now, it looks like Arendelle princesses Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel), along with the gruff mountaineer Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), his loyal reindeer steed Sven, and that adorable sentient snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) are back in an all-new adventure that takes them out of their kingdom and across the ocean to a new wondrous land. Check out the newest trailer and another image below.
Disney is not letting go of the chance to capitalize on the popularity of Frozen. After numerous spinoffs and shorts, the studio is proceeding to move forward with the production of its sequel Frozen 2.
While the core cast of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad are all expected to return, the addition of new voices is inevitable. Now we are getting confirmation of some of the new voices you will hear in Frozen 2. According to new reports, Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood and This is Us star Sterling K. Who’s got Frozen Fever? This girl! Not because I’m the mother of a 4-year-old girl and it’s a prerequisite. Not because I saw Olaf voice actor Josh Gad in the opening cast of The Book of Mormon as Elder Cunningham, and thought him brilliant. And not because secretly inside I believe myself to be a magical queen with formidable powers.
